Our first stop is Kouros of Melanes ,Kouros the Greek,as it is widely known.It's an impressive archaic period statue (6th Cent BC) on the premises of the ancient marble quarry.A perfect sample of Archaic period statue. Next stop is a photostop at the modern marble quarry from a distance.Following stop is at the church of Panagia Drosiani,oldest church in Balcan peninsula famous for its architecture and frescoes .Although the church might not be open, as there are no specific opening hours,we ll enjoy the magnificent landscape.Next stop is Filoti,the biggest village of the island,located on the feet of Zas Mountain.We shall walk and explore the village and there s going to be time to have a coffee at the most popular square of Naxos island.
Afterwards we ll get to Apiranthos,the marble village .Aperfect place to stroll in the village alleys,take photos and learn stories of the village. Next stop is Apollonas ,a seashore village on the Northest edge of the island where we ll relax at the seashore and then last but not least stop is Kouros of Apollonas ,an impressive 10,5m long statue of the Archaic period ,half finished abandoned at the ancient marble quarry. Then we get back to Naxos town ,following the North-west coast enjoying splendid view of North Cyclades islands.
